This kitchen and utility room in Falmouth were designed around a working island, opening up the floor plan into a single space that ties cooking, dining and storage together.

The island sits at the centre of the room, finished in Coastal Stone with mitred returns and a worktop that overruns the base units by 300mm to seat three at the breakfast bar. A matching back panel ties the island into the fridge freezer housing opposite, so the same stone runs through both ends of the kitchen.

Cabinetry is built in two finishes. Base units and drawers are veneered in Crown Cut European Oak with a J-pull handle, book matched across each run for a continuous grain. Tall units, including the housing for the American Fridge Freezer, are finished in Egger's Solid Light Grey laminate with a slab door and profile handle, framed in oak veneer panelling to bring the two finishes together.

Storage was worked out in detail throughout: corner units at both ends of the run house pull outs, the drawers either side of the oven are fitted with internal spice and cutlery trays, and the sink base includes an integrated bin pull out. A pull out larder sits alongside the fridge freezer housing, with open shelving above for everyday items.

The adjoining utility room continues the same Solid Light Grey finish, with a full height larder split internally for shelving and an ironing board, space for a washing machine and tumble dryer, and a matching Coastal Stone worktop with an inset sink.

Lighting above the tall and wall units, integrated cooker hood extraction, and an Abode boiling and filtered water tap in the kitchen complete a kitchen built for everyday use as much as entertaining. Doors & Panels:
J-pull doors in 22mm MR MDF with solid 10mm oak edging, veneered in Crown Cut European Oak, vertical grain book matched, 3% matt lacquer finish. Slab doors in Egger U708 ST9 Solid Light Grey laminate, 2mm ABS matching edging, profile pull handle. Larder and above fridge freezer units in matching slab finish, with oak veneer panelling framing the fridge freezer housing.

Cabinetry & Hardware:
Egger 18mm colour co-ordinated MFC, Natural Hamilton Oak, 2mm PVC lipped edges. Blum Clip-top Blumotion soft close hinges. Blum LegraBox soft close drawers in Lava Grey, colour matched cutlery drawer. Corner pull outs, tall unit pull out, internal spice and cutlery trays either side of oven, bin pull out in sink base. Sink base liners included.

Worktop:
20mm DukeStone Lamorna worktops, square edge and corners, 80mm upstand, back panel to entire hob run. Mitred returns and mitred window sill on the kitchen island, matching worktop with mitred window sill and additional shelf in the utility room.

Sink & Tap:
Kitchen - Blanco Subline 480/320-U SilGranit undermount double bowl sink in Anthracite, Abode Pronteau Propure Monobloc Swan 4 in 1 boiling and filtered water tap in Matt Black. Utility - Blanco Subline 500-U SilGranit undermount sink in Alu-Metallic, Blanco Mida-S pull out tap in Alu-Metallic.

Appliances:
American Fridge Freezer, gas hob, oven, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer supplied by the client. Extraction supplied and fitted by Meadows Kitchens.
