Newlyn Utility

This utility room in Newlyn was built around a single window, with cabinetry wrapping the reveal on both sides and a run of base units below the sink to make the most of a narrow space.‍

Doors and drawer fronts are veneered in White American Oak, dark stained and finished with a 32mm fingerpull along the top edge in place of a handle. The same stain runs across accent panels and end units, tying the tall unit at one end, which houses a washing machine, into the run of wall and base units either side of the window. Cladding continues that finish into the window reveal itself, so the joinery reads as a single fitted piece rather than separate units either side of an opening.

Cabinetry is built in Egger MFC in Dijon Walnut, with Blum Onyx soft close hinges and carbon LegraBox drawers rated to 70kg throughout. The wall unit above the sink is fitted with a flap door on a push to open catch, keeping the fingerpull detail consistent even where a handle would usually sit, and the low level base beside it is drilled to take a pull out.

The worktop is a 30mm Bianco Eclipsia Quartzite, which the customer used in their old kitchen in Penzance and loved so much, they wanted to use again, with a ceramic undermount sink from Abode paired with a matching nickel tap. High level wall unit with flap door, push to open. Low level base unit drilled for pull out. Tall unit, 2300mm high, housing washing machine.

Worktop: 30mm Bianco Eclipsia Quartzite.

Sink & Tap: Ceramic undermount sink by Abode with a matching nickel tap.

Appliances: Washing machine space, housed within the tall unit run, supplied by the client.
