Bamboo House, Nancledra

This kitchen at Bamboo House in Nancledra was designed with no wall units at all, running full height cabinetry to the ceiling instead and letting a single run of oak carry the room from floor to bulkhead.

Every door and drawer front is veneered in Quarter Cut European Oak, book matched so the grain runs continuously up each run of drawers and doors rather than restarting at every unit. Handles are built into the doors themselves as a 30mm solid oak lip, so nothing interrupts the grain, and the doors are finished with a coarse sand and dead matt lacquer to keep a transparent tone to the timber. Panels run to the ceiling with a shadow gap above the units, and the plinth height was taken up to keep that gap as tight as possible.‍

The island is fitted with a Novy venting induction hob with extraction built into the unit itself, the drawer below cut back to house the ductwork so the hob needs no separate extractor above it. A run of deep drawer packs sits either side, including a dedicated slave drawer for the hob and a 450mm sink base at one end, with an on-site carpenter cladding the sides and back of the island to complete the joinery.‍

Along the main run, an oven and microwave housing sits beside a tall American style fridge freezer housing, both taken to full ceiling height, with a run of drawer packs below and a dovetailed larder unit with wooden spice racks hung inside the doors. Two Blanco SilGranit sinks are fitted, an Etagon in the island and a Subline along the back wall, paired with a Quooker Fusion Square boiling water tap on the island and an Abode pull-out spray tap on the main run, both in matt black with matching soap dispensers.‍

The worktop is Caesarstone Cloudburst Concrete, overhung along the island to form a breakfast bar, with drainer grooves and cut outs for both sinks, taps and the hob worked into a single continuous surface. Doors & Panels:
Book-matched J-pull doors and solid panels. Veneered MR MDF, 22mm thick, edged with 10mm solid oak lipping and a 30mm solid oak integrated handle. Quarter Cut European Oak veneer, book matched vertical grain, coarse sand finish with raw transparent lacquer. Panels flush to cabinetry and taken to ceiling with a 20mm shadow gap, no wall units, 150mm plinth. Spice racks hung inside larder doors.

Cabinetry & Hardware:
Egger 18mm MFC, Natural Hamilton Oak, 2mm ABS colour matched lipped edges. Blum Clip-top Blumotion soft close hinges. Blum LegraBox soft close drawers in Lava Grey, wooden dovetail jointed drawers to the larder, wooden cutlery tray. Sink base liners included, two Blanco bins fitted in the 1000mm sink base.

Worktop:
30mm Caesarstone Cloudburst Concrete, square edge and corners, 80mm upstand, no back panel. Overhang to the island for breakfast bar seating.

Sink & Tap:
Two Blanco SilGranit undermount sinks in matt black, an Etagon 500-U single bowl on the island and a Subline 320-U single bowl on the main run. Quooker Fusion Square boiling water tap in matt black on the island with Pro3 tank, Abode Fraction single lever pull-out spray tap in matt black on the main run, matching matt black soap dispensers.

Appliances:
Novy Venting Induction Hob, 80cm, A rated with built-in recirculation extraction. Samsung S4 oven with Dual Cook and Wifi, Samsung S4 microwave with steam clean, Samsung dishwasher, 13 place setting. American style fridge freezer supplied by the client.
