Visiting Our Newlyn Showroom: A Local's Guide to Making a Day of It
Park up at Tolcarne car park
Our recommendation is to park at Tolcarne car park, right on the harbourside in the heart of Newlyn. It puts you within easy walking distance of everything below, including us, so you can leave the car for the day and explore properly on foot.
Start with a coffee at Lovetts
A short walk from the car park, Lovetts is the perfect place to kick things off. It's a family run wine bar and coffee shop with a lovely relaxed feel, known locally for serving some of the best coffee in the area alongside homemade cakes. Grab a flat white to take with you as you head into town, or settle in for a few minutes if you're not in a rush.
Come and see us at Meadows Studios
From there it's a short stroll up to our showroom, Meadows Studios, on Chywoone Hill. This is where you'll find full working displays of our kitchens, from cabinetry and hardware through to worktops, sinks and appliances, so you can see and touch the real thing rather than just imagining it from a brochure. Whether you've already got a design underway with us or you're right at the start of the process, come in and have a look around. We're always happy to talk through ideas, materials and what's possible for your space.
Take in an exhibition at Newlyn Art Gallery
Just along the road, Newlyn Art Gallery is well worth a visit if you've got a bit of time, with a changing programme of contemporary exhibitions in a beautiful gallery space overlooking the sea. It's dog friendly too, so no need to leave anyone behind in the car.
Dinner at Argoe
If you're staying into the evening, Argoe is a fantastic choice for dinner. Part owned by a local fishmonger, this harbourside restaurant serves simple, beautifully cooked seafood dishes designed for sharing, all depending on what's come in that day. Booking ahead is a good idea, especially at weekends.
A pint and the beer garden at the Red Lion
For a proper Cornish pub with a view, the Red Lion has been part of Newlyn's story for generations, sitting above the harbour with a beer garden that's perfect on a warm evening. Cask ales, good conversation, and some of the best views in the village.
Breakfast at Duke Street Cafe
If you're staying locally or coming back another morning, Duke Street Cafe does a hearty breakfast using produce sourced almost entirely within a few miles, including their own hand roasted coffee. It's dog friendly, family run, and a proper Newlyn favourite.
If you're planning a kitchen project, coming to see us in person makes all the difference. Photos and renders only tell you so much. Once you're standing in Meadows Studios, running your hand over a worktop sample or opening a real cabinet door, you get a proper feel for the quality and the finish.
We know a showroom visit is often part of a bigger day out, especially if you're travelling in from further afield, so we thought we'd put together a proper guide. Below you'll find how to get here, where to park, and a few of our favourite spots in Newlyn to fill the rest of your day, from your first coffee to an evening drink.
Getting here is easier than you'd think
Newlyn sits right on the edge of Penzance, just around the headland from the town centre and a short, level walk along the promenade if you fancy stretching your legs. If you're driving down, you'll come the length of the A30, which runs pretty much the whole way through Cornwall and brings you almost to our door. Penzance is the last stop on the mainline railway too, so if you're coming by train it's a straightforward taxi ride or a pleasant fifteen to twenty minute walk along the seafront from the station.
Once you're in Newlyn itself, everything mentioned in this guide, including our showroom, is within a few minutes' walk of each other, so there's no need to keep jumping back in the car.
Lunch at Mackerel Sky
By the time you've had a good look round the showroom, you'll probably be ready for lunch, and there's nowhere better than Mackerel Sky. This little seafood bar sources its catch straight from Newlyn harbour just down the road, and serves it up tapas style so you can try a few different plates. It's hugely popular and doesn't take bookings, so it's worth going a little earlier if you can.
A drink at Newlyn Fermentary
If natural, fermented food and drink is your thing, pop into Newlyn Fermentary, a small batch producer of kimchi, sauerkraut and water kefir made using local, seasonal ingredients. It's a bit of a hidden gem and a proper taste of what makes Newlyn's food scene so interesting.
A sandwich and a treat from Auntie May's
For something more classic, head to Auntie May's, a Newlyn institution for freshly made sandwiches, baguettes and homemade pasties. It's a favourite with locals for good reason, and the cakes are worth saving room for too.
