Queen Street, Penzance

Wooden kitchen cabinets with a white countertop, a window with a vase of yellow flowers, and decorative items including green vases and bowls.

This bespoke kitchen on Queen Street, Penzance was a full room project from the outset, coordinated alongside the electrical, plumbing, plastering and painting trades needed to get the space ready, not just the cabinetry itself.

As with every kitchen we design and build, the doors are hand made. Each is 22mm MR MDF, lipped in solid oak at every edge and veneered on both sides in crown cut European oak, book matched along the vertical grain so the figuring runs continuously across each run. Every door and drawer is finished with a routed J-Pull rather than an applied handle, keeping the fronts clean and uninterrupted.

Cabinet carcasses are built in Egger's Light Winchester Oak, a soft, natural tone that keeps the kitchen feeling warm and consistent. At one end, an angled open unit steps the run around an awkward corner rather than boxing it in, five shelves deep on one side and shallower on the other, turning a difficult junction into useful, considered storage. Elsewhere, the household's boiler is built directly into the cabinetry run behind its own panelled door, hidden from view without losing access.

The worktop is Caesarstone's Cloudburst Concrete, a 20mm quartz surface with the tone and texture of poured concrete, run across 4.5 square metres with a full upstand and back panel, and extended into the window recess for a clean, considered finish. At the sink, a Blanco SilGranit sink in Etagon Soft White is paired with a Quooker Fusion tap in patinated brass, finished in a square profile, with matching soap dispenser and the Quooker Pro3 tank providing filtered boiling water on demand.

Cooking is handled by a Samsung suite: a Series 4 Smart Oven with Dual Cook Flex and pyrolytic self cleaning, a matching combination microwave, and a NikolaTesla Alpha venting hob, an induction hob with extraction built directly into the unit itself, so there is no overhead hood interrupting the room. A Samsung integrated fridge freezer with Twin Cooling Plus and SpaceMax technology completes the appliance run.

The result is a warm, considered oak kitchen built to solve the real constraints of the room, an awkward corner, a boiler to hide, a hob with nowhere for a hood, each turned into a detail rather than a compromise.
