This bespoke kitchen at Fairway on Alexandra Road, Penzance, is built around a genuinely distinctive material choice: a teak veneer door with its own solid iroko handle.

As with every kitchen we design and build, the doors are made to order rather than bought in. Each is 22mm MRMDF, veneered in a straight grain teak plantation timber with three layer teak edging, and finished with a J-Pull handle routed directly into the door and edged in solid iroko, a dense, durable hardwood often used as a natural alternative to teak itself.

A handful of the wall unit doors are left as plain slab fronts rather than routed, giving the eye a place to rest among the grain running through the rest of the kitchen.

Cabinet carcasses are built in Egger MFC, with Blum Onyx soft close hinges and Blum LegraBox soft close drawers throughout. A 600mm larder with internal drawers and a dedicated pull-out space tower sits within the run, keeping deep storage organised rather than left as a single cavity behind a door.

The worktop is Silestone's Polished Et Noir, a 20mm quartz surface run across 6.5 square metres with a full upstand and back panel, chosen to sit as a dark, quiet contrast against the warmth of the teak.

Doors & Panels:
22mm MRMDF, teak plantation straight grain veneer, three layer teak edging, J-Pull handle routed into the door with solid iroko edging. A small number of wall unit doors left as plain slab fronts, without a routed handle.

Cabinetry & Hardware:
Egger 18mm MFC cabinetry, 2mm PVC lipped edges, 150mm plinth, 2240mm tall units, 900mm wall units, 720mm base units. Blum Onyx soft close hinges, Blum LegraBox soft close drawers, leg upgrade. 600mm larder with internal drawers and a dedicated pull-out space tower.

Worktop:
Silestone Polished Et Noir, 20mm thick, with upstand and back panel all around.

Sink & Tap:
SilGranit undermount Blanco sink
